About March of Dimes Canada:

Founded in 1949, March of Dimes Canada (MODC) was originally established to raise money for polio research under the name of March of Dimes. In the early 1960s, MODC began to pursue its current mission of increasing the independence and community participation of people with physical disabilities. In 1967, the charity's legal name was changed to the Rehabilitation Foundation for the Disabled and in 2006 it became March of Dimes Canada. Roughly 1 in 5 Canadians has a disability, and 14.5% of Canadians live with a mobility disability.

March of Dimes Canada offers a variety of programs including Community Support Services, Employment Services, AcessAbility Services, and Community Programs and After Stroke Services. It also runs smaller programs including Passport Services, Advocacy, and Research.

Community Support Services: MODC's Community Support Services is its largest program, accounting for 60% of annual program spending in F2020. This program provides essential services to clients in their homes or communities to increase their functionality and connection with others. Some services include peer mentoring, one-on-one attendant care, and supportive housing. Support for caregivers of people living with disabilities is also a component of this program. In F2020, this program served 6,147 clients. Of these clients, 1,176 received support from MODC's Attendant Outreach Services and 314 received support from the charity's Brain Injury Services.

Employment Services: March of Dimes Canada's Employment Services was 23% of program spending in F2020. This program works with the 41% of working-age Canadians living with disabilities who are unemployed. It connects people with disabilities who are looking for work with employers seeking qualified candidates. In F2020, 15,972 assessments were completed, and 19,256 clients were served.

AcessAbility Services: MODC reports this program as 10% of program spending. This program works to decrease barriers for those who use mobility devices or have limited mobility due to a disability. In F2020, MODC's Assistive Devices Program purchased devices for over 4,000 people.

Community Programs and After Stroke Services: This program accounts for 5% of spending. It works to enhance the quality of life for people who have disabilities and brain injuries, as well as their caretakers. Social-recreational activities such as stroke support groups fall under this program. In F2020, this program served 33,373 people.
